Byrd still has a few faded, fond memories of their mother. When she died, Byrd was left on their own in a dangerous city. They're already lucky to be alive, setting aside their mother escaping from a cult to even get them to the city they reside in now. Years of living on the street has given them an innate map of the lower ring, allies they can call on, and staunch enemies.
Usually, Byrd hires themeselves out as an enforcer, bouncer, or explicitly an assassin if funds are really running low. They find themselves unable to leave the retainer of a charismatic businessman after falling for his latest thrall, the fearsome Beast.
